To maintain the UAE’s continued economic and urban development, greater numbers of overseas workers were needed, and with it the requirement of laws and legislations that safeguarded both employer and employee. Under the directive of the UAE’s wise leadership, Dubai was and remains committed to ensuring the highest standards of living for its workforce, protecting employees’ rights and providing the best working conditions.


This is reflected in several initiatives, such as the provision of workers’ accommodation, promoting the occupational health and safety of workers, the application of the wage protection system, establishing structured working hours – particularly during the summer months – and the prevention of human trafficking or the retention of passports.


Protecting the rights of workers – both overseas and domestic – continues to be a top priority for the UAE. And thanks to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Taqdeer Award was inaugurated to recognise distinguished companies operating in the fields of construction, manufacturing and free zones in the Emirate of Dubai.


The Taqdeer Award rewards companies that demonstrate excellence in employee welfare and relations, the best employment practices, and comprehensive implementation of global benchmarks. All of these criteria contribute to Dubai’s standing as a hub for the most forward-thinking employers in the region.
